Iso Workshop Agreement
The workshop, organized by the Standardization Administration of the People`s Republic of China (SAC), will take place virtually from 14 to 16 March 2022 and from 22 to 24 June 2022. Both sessions are complemented by additional online correspondence and one or more web workshops. The registration deadline is February 8, 2022 and participants must register using this form. Given the rapid growth of this industry and the challenges related to the safety, security and sustainability of buildings, premises, facilities and operations that handle cannabis, Canada will lead an iso international workshop to develop guidelines in these areas. An international workshop agreement is a document developed outside the normal ISO committee system to allow market participants to negotiate in an “open workshop” environment. International workshop agreements are usually supported administratively by a member committee. The published agreement contains a reference to the participating organisations involved in its development. An international workshop agreement has a maximum lifespan of six years, after which it can be converted into another ISO result or be automatically withdrawn. The Canadian Standards Council (SCC) and UL are proud to co-host an ISO international workshop to develop guidelines for the global legal cannabis market.
Interested stakeholders are invited to participate in the workshop to develop three (3) documents covering the safety, security and sustainability of buildings, facilities, equipment and systems used for the cultivation, production, processing, transportation and sale of cannabis and cannabis products. An International Workshop Agreement (AIT) is a document developed outside the normal ISO committee system to allow market participants to negotiate in an “open workshop” environment. A member organization generally supports IWA administratively. The IAA can serve as a starting point for the development of standardization work that supports increased safety in the consumer market. A technical specification deals with work that is still under technical development or that should have a future, but not immediate, possibility of agreeing on an international standard. A technical specification is published for immediate use, but also offers the opportunity to receive feedback.
